I forced shut down with the power button. It seemed to try to boot Mint (not refind) but after a while it would make a flash and screen would go dark. I shutdown the computer, restarted it, and patatra nothing was booting. Installation seemed to go fine, it rebooted directly into Mint. Then I tried to install Mint from Live DVD. Rebooted, refind was up perfectly, got into recovery mode and reenabled SIP. Made an automatic install of refind with the install.sh script. To install refind, I had to disable SIP (boot into recovery mode, then csrutil disable in the terminal), as explained e.g. Then I switched my hard drive to a bigger one, installed OS X 10.11 (El Capitan), made different additional partitions (a FAT32 one to exchange data, a swap partition and an ext4 partition for Mint). I first installed refind and Mint 17.2 along OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), with separate partitions. I am using Refind ( ) as my boot manager. I am trying to have a dual boot OS X - Linux Mint (17.2) on my Macbook pro 13'' mid 2010. I am speaking of System Integrity Protection a.k.a Rootless (SIP hereafter). This thread is mostly to gather information and experience about this new feature of Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) which is making it hard (at least for me) to get a dual boot with Linux.

How do I read them to determine the issue?Īnonymous UUID: 0460E811-2BA7-FA23-4810-8FA2FB4F72FB When it finally does load it gives me a kernel panic report Sometimes it seems like the machine is on but the screens remain dark after the initial grey/white apple boot screen. The machine will either turn off before loading my desktop or once it loads it will randomly restart.
